Fortune’s Fate and Feels Like Gold: The Rise of Mirador
Mirador emerges as one of the most intriguing new rock projects of the year, not only because of its sound but because of its pedigree. Formed by Jake Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet and Chris Turpin of Ida Mae, the band pairs arena-riff power with the raw, roots-driven storytelling that made Ida Mae’s folk-blues work so distinctive. Rounding out the lineup are Mikey Sorbello on drums and Nick Pini on bass and keys, anchoring a sound that feels mythic and immediate, steeped in folklore yet fully modern.
Their first single, “Feels Like Gold,” set the tone immediately. It’s heavy and mystical, with vocals that burn with vibrato and urgency. The track leans into imagery of cultural collision and conquest, pulling from crossroads mythology and devil-deal blues while still carrying a contemporary weight. It introduced Mirador not as a side project but as a band intent on carving out its own myth.
The follow-up, “Fortune’s Fate,” builds on that foundation with yearning and escape at its core. It explores the tension between the comfort of the familiar and the pull of the unknown. With emotional vocals and sweeping instrumentation, the song feels like a bridge between what came before and what’s about to come in the album.
The self-titled debut arrives on September 19, 2025, and with the tour already underway, anticipation is high. Mirador has only given listeners two songs so far, but both point toward a record and a live show that could define their next chapter from the very start.
